  19. Typically, you could have your port speed, the DTE rate, set too high for
  20. your computer, generating errors.  That is ONE of many possibilities.

  22. Try setting you port speed progressively lower until you see the best speed
  23. the modem will support.  If you have to drop to 19200 bps without seeing a
  24. drop in the error rate, then you need a new I/O card with 16550 type uarts
  25. on it.  Win95 definately requires such hardware.

  27. This is just ONE of several possibilities.  If you type in AT&F&W1, then
  28. the modem will be set correctly for normal operation, and you should be
  29. able to use a DTE rate up to 115200 without errors.  Otherwise you have a
  30. defect in either computer or modem.(probably)
